One
of the most significant Brazilian artists of our time, Robertinho Silva
has made his mark in the history of Brazilian Music. Joyful and charismatic,
he transforms the art of drums and percussion into enrichment for body,
mind and soul using dexterity, technique and confidence.
From
the beginning of his career in the late 1960s until today, Robertinho
has performed in concert and on recordings with the greatest names in
Brazilian and international music, including Milton Nascimento, whom he
played with for 25 years, João Donato, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Wayne
Shorter, Paul Horn, George Duke, Egberto Gismonti, Airto Moreira, Flora
Purim, Raul de Souza, Dori Caymmi, Cal Tjader, Sarah Vaughn, Gilberto
Gil, Toninho Horta and most recently Lisa Ono and Guilherme Vergueiro.
In
his solo career, he has recorded five solo CDs, and
continues to perform live with his band as well as
give workshops and seminars throughout Brazil and
abroad.
Currently, Robertinho is working on the ensemble "The Silvas,"
in which he performs with his four sons, all percussionists, Ronaldo,
Vanderlei, Pablo and Tiago,
with appearances by his wife, Aleuda Silva.
Robertinho
recently created a band made up of female percussionists entitled "As
Levadas," a product of his work as a teaching master.
